Battle of Tukayyid: Geschnittene Nova Cat Tracks
English:
Today I have something more or less special for you (thanks to Catalyst Game Labs for giving their okay): the Nova Cat tracks I wrote for Battle of Tukayyid that did not make into the final book (I simply wrote too many).
The material wasn’t completely cut, though. A lot of it found its way into the optional rules of the different regions. It’s worth pointing out they were cut mid development, so they are not finished and some of them are even missing important parts. You might also notice an „Aftermath“ section and a few other things that didn’t make it into the final book in general.
Let’s also make something very clear: the following material is unofficial, not edited and not canon.
Are we there yet?
SITUATION
Location

The road the Nova Cats had to take to Tost is often called „the road with much to see and nothing to do“. You can see the Losiije Fun Park and the forest. You can also see the lake and both cities. That is possible, because huge parts of the road run almost 50 meters above sea level and there is almost nothing vegetation or anything else around it. Even places to rest or eat are almost nonexistent, a rare situation for the Inner Sphere.
The one interesting thing those roads offer are the logical consequence of these conditions: small scale sand storns.
Those storms are also how the ComGuards managed to ride small attacks against the Nova Cats on an open plane, without the Clan Warriors noticing the attacks before it was too late. Hidden from the red, slightly magnetized sand, the ComGuards managed to get in close, taking the Clan warriors by surprise.

AFTERMATH
At best, the result of the battle could be called a draw. After the initial surprise of the ComGuards seemingly appearing out of nowhere, the Nova Cats managed to fine tune their sensors and picking up additional forces, before they could get in close, effectively preventing further attacks. The loss or armor and ammunition would come crushing down on them later in the campaign.
Joje Blues
SITUATION
Location
Region/Continent/City, Tukayyid
Nation/Region
DAY MONTH YEAR
The Nova Cats managed to enter the outskirts of Joje, heavily damaged. After their push through the fissures, they were on their guard for additional traps in the suburbs.
While the small houses of the suburbs supplied almost no cover or protection, the Nova Cats did have to go around the houses, to avoid damaging their own ’Mechs. Pre arraned targeting solutions were used to hammer the Nova Cats with artillery fire, whenever they entered any open terrain like parks or even larger gardens. The ComGuards had even prepared naval mines in some private pools.
The moment the Nova Cats entered the suburbs from the north, a small unit from ComStar’s 9th Division came in from the west, formally challenging the Nova Cats into duels. The 9th then lead the Nova Cats to the south west of the suburbs, before the artillery fire began to start. Once the first barrage was over, hidden ComGuards emerged from pre arranged positions inside houses, attacking the Nova Cats, ignoring Zellbrigen.

It was a Trap
Cross of 1/2 of every ’Mech’s armor, up to a maximum of 100 points. Roll for damaged locations in 5 point clusters from the front. If the rolled location would take internal damage, anywhere aside from the legs, from the roll, roll again. Legs cannot be blown off from critical damage, assign 3 critical hits instead. Critical damage cannot be transferred to another location
AFTERMATH
Running already low on armor and ammunition from being herded through a minefield, the Nova Cats never managed to break the defenses of Joje. Forced to abandon their attacks after multiple tries, Beta Galaxy would split their troops, to fool ComStar into false security, trying to resupply from their enemy’s depots, spotted earlier by pure luck.
The High Road
SITUATION
Location
Region/Continent/City, Tukayyid
Nation/Region
To relieve pressure on the troops advancing towards Joje, the Nova Cats send Beta Galaxy’s 44th Nova Cat Cavaliers over the Highway towards Tost.
Given multiple tourist attractions in the area, the Highway was well maintained and big enough to allow „The Five Actions“ to advance quickly. Due to the tourist attractions, both sides of the Highway were riddled with fast food restaurants, souvenir shops and even some tall office buildings and hotels from which it was possible to see not only the lake, but also the amusement park in the north east.
It was in such buildings, that Comstar hid troops, which then fell over the unsuspecting Nova Cats like a pack of wolves.

The 44th Nova Cat Cavaliers were forced to fall back, unable to break through the ComGuards attacking them from hiding places all along the road. Falling back towards Joje, they managed to break the stalemate there and allow the Nova Cats to start their fruitless attempts to take the city.
The Wall of Tost
SITUATION
Location
Region/Continent/City, Tukayyid
Nation/Region
DAY MONTH YEAR
Tost was one of the early cities settled on Tukayyid. Over the centuries, it grew larger, until an epidemic eradicated almost half its citizens in a matter of months, during the early 28th century. To prevent the epidemic from spreading, a wall was erected in record time around the city, barring entry or exit from anyone who did not go through a designated checkpoint.
While the measure caused civil unrest, at the time, people thought it did help to contain the situation. When it was later found out, the epidemic came from poisoned water supplies and would not have spread, even without the wall, there were long and drawn out legal battles, about being denied basic human rights.
When the Battle of Tukayyid started, the wall was still standing and made it difficult for the Nova Cats to enter the city, while it also prevented the ComGuard defenders to sneak out unseen.

AFTERMATH
The wall still stands to this day. None of the Nova Cat’s ’Mechs managed to set a foot into the city. After multiple attempts and completely dry of ammunition, the Clan finally gave up its attacks and fell back. One last arrow in their quiver of tricks and ideas, the Nova Cats prepared their first and final tactical masterpiece of this operation.
It is better to have resupplied and lost, than never to have resupplied …
SITUATION
Location
Region/Continent/City, Tukayyid
Nation/Region
DAY MONTH YEAR
While the Nova Cats scored a substantial victory against the ComGuards, they needed time to resupply and rest their tired troops. Having almost completely wiped out the ComStar forces that protected the supplies, the Nova Cats relaxed a bit and started to make rushed repairs to their heavily damaged Mechs and loaded the captured ammunition into their ’Mechs.
To prevent the Nova Cats from resupplying and taking their targets, ComStar had only one choice: move the troops from Joje to the lake and prevent the Nova Cats from using their newly acquired ammunitions and other equipment., leaving Joje completely undefended.
